This is my all time favorite classic! I was kind of disappointed with the movie (the one with Keira Knightley) though. I didn't really like the actor who portrayed Mr. Darcy.

It's always interesting when Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice comes up in discussion; I remember during college when I was doing one of my many re-readings, people would come up and start conversations about the book, about the mini-series and the movies (and this was before the Keira Knightley movie).

Last Friday I saw a lady reading Austen's Sense and Sensability on the subway, but I didn't do anything for fear I would be thought of as a weirdo (I am in NYC).  wink

I think I've read this book like 5 times already  unsure (i'm 18, so that's saying something), but the weird thing is, it never bores me...I simply LOVE it  cute
I also think Coling Firth fits the part best...to be honest, the BBC miniseries is my favourite version in all regards: actors, the actual acting, and the fact that it has 6 episodes  biggrin

I loved it. I love the grammar, the descriptions, the really simple events that in the end become so thought provoking for me.

I know i sound like a freak, so forgive my prosy-ness...

This is probably one of the classics that I would want to read.  Is this in here?  How come I can't see any books?

This is the book that got me hooked on Jane Austen, but I have to say, of all Jane Austen books, Persuasion is my favorite :)

I first read Jane Austen when I was like 13 or so. The moment I read Pride & Prejudice I declared it was my favorite book EVER!

I read the rest of her books, and I liked Sense & Sensibility, but nothing can compare to P & P.

I also watched the BBC show, and concluded that Colin Firth is a perfect Mr Darcy.

the reason why p&p is still read nowadays is because of the timelessness of it's theme as the title implies. we all have our pride and prejudices when it comes to romance...
